Rob Taylor at Vancouver Writers Fest
The Poetry Bash
Rob Taylor (Strangers) will be appearing alongside Canada’s most talked-about poets today at the Vancouver Writers Fest Poetry Bash! Rob will be joined on stage by Bertrand Bickersteth (The Response of Weeds); Métis writer and Room Magazine editor Molly Cross-Blanchard (Exhibitionist); prolific poet and Kwantlen First Nations member, Joseph Dandurand (Sh:lam); artist, poet, and writer Chantal Gibson (with/holding); and writer, poet, and producer Billeh Nickerson (Duct-Taped Roses). The event will be hosted by Aislinn Hunter, and will take place on Friday, October 22 at 9PM PDT (11PM EDT).

ABOUT STRANGERS
In Strangers, Rob Taylor makes new the epiphany poem: the short lyric ending with a moment of recognition or arrival. In his hands, the form becomes not simply a revelation in words but, in Wallace Stevens’ phrase, “a revelation in words by means of the words.” The epiphany here is not only the poet’s. It’s ours. A book about the songlines of memory and language and the ways in which they connect us to other human beings, to read Strangers is to become part of the lineages (literary, artistic, familial) that it braids together—to become, as Richard Outram puts it, an “unspoken / Stranger no longer.”
ABOUT ROB TAYLOR
Rob Taylor is the author of three poetry collections, including The News (Gaspereau Press, 2016), which was a finalist for the 2017 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize. He is also the editor of What the Poets Are Doing: Canadian Poets in Conversation (Nightwood Editions, 2018). In 2015 Rob received a City of Vancouver’s Mayor’s Arts Award for the Literary Arts. He lives in Port Moody, BC with his wife and son.
